Temperature Converter
Type a temperature in either box. Negative temperatures work; anything below absolute zero is flagged as impossible.
20 °C = 68 °F
Formulas
| From → to | Formula |
|---|---|
| °C → °F | °F = °C × 9/5 + 32 |
| °F → °C | °C = (°F − 32) × 5/9 |
| °C → K | K = °C + 273.15 |
| K → °C | °C = K − 273.15 |
| °F → K | K = (°F − 32) × 5/9 + 273.15 |
| K → °F | °F = (K − 273.15) × 9/5 + 32 |
Why temperature is different
Most unit conversions just multiply by a factor. Temperature scales also have different zero points, so conversion needs an offset as well. That is why 10 °C is not “twice as warm” as 5 °C, and why a temperature change of 10 °C equals a change of 18 °F but a temperature of 10 °C equals 50 °F.
