GB to TB Converter
Divide gigabytes by 1,000 to get terabytes.
Formula
1 GB = 0.001 TB
terabytes = gigabytes ÷ 1,000
Worked example
Convert 2,000 gigabytes to terabytes
- Divide by 1,000
- 2,000 ÷ 1,000 = 2
2,000 GB = 2 TB
Good to know
Planning a backup: add up the gigabytes you need to store, divide by 1,000, and leave headroom — drives slow down and fill quickly when nearly full. A 2,000 GB total needs at least a 2 TB drive, and a 4 TB drive gives room to grow.
