Discount Calculator
Enter the original price and the discount. If there is an extra “further X% off” offer, add it as a second discount.
Discounted price
How discounts are calculated
saving = price × discount ÷ 100
sale price = price × (1 − discount ÷ 100)
25% off means you pay 75% of the price, so multiply by 0.75.
Worked example
80 with 25% off, then an extra 10% off
- 25% of 80 = 20, so the sale price is 60
- Extra 10% off 60 = 6, leaving 54
- Total saved: 26, which is 32.5% of 80
You pay 54. The combined discount is 32.5%, not 35%.
Stacked discounts do not add up
Each extra discount applies to the already-reduced price, so two discounts combine as 1 − (1 − d₁)(1 − d₂). “50% off plus an extra 50%” is 75% off, not free.
Shopping tips
- Compare the final price, not the percentage — 30% off a higher list price can still cost more.
- Check whether a discount applies before or after sales tax; it usually applies before.
- For multi-buy offers such as “3 for 2”, the unit price calculator is a better comparison.
