Degrees to Radians Converter
Multiply degrees by π/180 to get radians. The converter also shows the answer as a fraction of π where it is one (90° = π/2).
Formula
1 ° = 0.0174532925 rad
radians = degrees ÷ 57.2957795131
Worked example
Convert 45 degrees to radians
- Divide by 57.2957795131
- 45 ÷ 57.2957795131 = 0.785398
45 ° = 0.785398 rad
Good to know
Radians are the natural unit for angles in mathematics: calculus formulas and most programming functions (such as Math.sin in JavaScript or Python’s math.sin) expect radians. Feeding degrees into them is a very common bug — sin(90) in radians is about 0.894, not 1.

About these units
- Degree (°)
- One 360th of a full turn. Subdivided into 60 arcminutes of 60 arcseconds each.
- Radian (rad)
- The SI unit of angle: the angle whose arc equals the radius. A full turn is 2π ≈ 6.2832 rad.
