Type an expression or use the keys. Standard order of operations applies, and everything runs in your browser.

Example: (3 + 4)^2 / 7 · ln(e^2) · 5! · 15% · 2pi

2 * sin(30) + sqrt(16)5

Angles are in degrees.

Order of operations

Expressions are evaluated as brackets first, then powers (right to left, so 2^3^2 = 2^9 = 512), then multiplication and division, then addition and subtraction, left to right. A leading minus binds more loosely than a power: −3^2 = −9.

Worked example

2 × sin(30°) + √16

  1. sin(30°) = 0.5
  2. 2 × 0.5 = 1
  3. √16 = 4
  4. 1 + 4 = 5

Result: 5

Precision

Calculations use double-precision floating point (about 15–17 significant digits) and the result is rounded to 12 significant digits to remove representation noise, so sin(180°) shows 0 rather than 1.2 × 10⁻¹⁶. Trig functions at exact multiples of 90° return exact values.
